How to Dress to Success for a Job Interview

Today can be your lucky day. Your cosmic stars are aligned right; you woke up in a good mood, even your fortune cookie says to expect to get lucky today. That’s good news, considering that after 3 months of job hunting, this job interview might just be the one for you. Your portfolio is ready and beaming with extraordinary skills; you hair cut to the right length; even your teeth gleaming to its whitest. But, there’s still one problem you need to deal with—what to wear.

In the past, dressing for a job interview is as simple as tying your shoe. Just pick one from your suits, dress it with the right tie and you’re good to go. But today, workplace attire has transform from CEO-look –top-to-bottom to casual doll ups, making men look like models out of a GQ magazine.

So, for an unemployed chap like you trying to enter into the fabulous and tight world of employment again, the task of dressing for a job interview can be so confusing. Just how would you present yourself for that possibly life changing interview? Here are tips for you to consider:

Dress down for conservative jobs
Okay, so you’re aiming for a high powered job from a top financial institution. This then means dressing up like the big dogs in the tall weeds; and there’s no other way big dogs dress up than suits. Don’t even think of trying your creative juice for this interview. Remember, it’s all dark and formal in these doghouses, which means dark suit, white shirt, and black leather shoes. No funny patterns or colors in there.

Go comfortable and professional in administrative jobs
Service jobs may not require you to wear suits and tie, but still, you have to look professional when you turn in for that interview. You can pass a sweater over a tie and chinos, but make sure to still look serious and well-pressed to make that strong impression you aim for.

Keep it creative yet professional in art-related jobs
So, you want to land a job in publishing, media, or perhaps museums. Although wearing a suit may not be necessary for these jobs, it’s still a good point if you arrive for the interview looking professional and ready for the fun, artistic job ahead. You may have the urge to just wear jeans or your casual clothes, but don’t. This is where your ingenuity will come in handy, by keeping a balance between the casual nature of the workplace and the need to look professional.

Keep in mind that the workplace is forever changing, do does its dress code. So, dress for success by keeping your personal style in tune with the job you want. Look professional, without going overboard, but still projecting a winning confidence.

Good bye old phone, Hello new one! :D

There’s good and bad news for my post today and as the title gives it out, it’s about my cell phones. My old one, which I bought from my own money, a Motorola, fell on the tub this morning because I was cramming and late for school. I told my mom I need a new phone, and she willingly offered money for me to buy a new one. And so, hello to lovely Blackberry! I love it so much, yeah. It rocks! Anyway, aside from my phone, I also need to buy a new tuxedo. I was invited at a formal party and yeah, I need to look rockin’. I’m off to find cheaper tux on sales or clearance so I could save a bit on my allowance.

On the other hand, my cousin, Alfred came over and brought his XBOX. Yeah, my own XBOX broke a month ago and I’ve been busy to buy another one. We played until like 5 in the morning, it was cool. We ate pizza and junk foods and drank some beer, it’s been awhile since this duffus visited so we sort of made the time worth-while. When he left, I got nothing else to do so I just browsed the net and watched funny vids on Youtube. After awhile I got bored so I decided to make this post instead…but now I need to take a shower because I still need to find a cheap tux. So see yeah guys when I see you.

TWILIGHT SAGA’S NEW MOON: HOT WEREWOLVES AND VAMPIRES CREATOR

Is there anyone who hasn’t heard about the hottest vampire movie for this year? TWILIGHT’s 2nd movie hit the silver screens like a bomb resulting to standing rooms and long lines for the tickets. But who wouldn’t want to see the lead role Edward Cullen on a dashing black tuxedo again, asking for his love interest Bella Swan to dance again? But unlike Twilight, New Moon isn’t all about mushy things like the first movie. New Moon (from the book Stephenie Meyer created after Twilight) is all about losing love and finding something – a new beacon of hope – to move on.

In this movie, Edward left Bella after the incident of her birthday when his brother, Jasper, almost killed the love of his life. Edward decided to leave much for Bella’s sake, along with his family. Pretending that he doesn’t love her anymore, he convinced Bella that they needed to go for the secrecy of their race. Bella, on the other hand, ended up all depressed and alone in Forks, Washington. She lost everything, friends, the will to live, but still waited patiently for her vampires to come back. But then, when she met Jacob Black again and everything went a bit lighter. This is the part where the movie introduced the werewolves of La Push, the Indian reservation in Forks.

The latest additions to the story, the werewolves played great part when the vampires were absent. Jacob and his pack took care of Forks when the nomad vampires (Victoria and Laurent) from the first vampires terrorized Forks. They also protected Bella as the nomad’s main target, thus placed peace upon the whole town. Jacob also fell in love with Bella, and in order to survive and move on, Bella entertained Jacob’s feelings but never attached any strings. Until Alice Cullen, Edward’s sister, appeared when Bella jumped off a cliff one day, fearing she committed suicide. That’s when Edward (who was still in love with Bella) thought she had died and wanted to die as well and went to Italy to provoke the largest vampire clan, Volturi, to kill him.

The climax of the movie is when Bella left Jacob and the pack that protected her for months to save the man she loved despite hurting her. Alongside Alice, they headed to Italy and that’s when things turned to twists. The movie’s two thumbs up when it comes to stunts and more vivid colors than the first one. Fans would definitely love this part, not only because of the werewolves, but how Bella and Edward’s love will prevail at the end of the film. And so, at the end of this article, I’ll leave you the movie’s line: When you can live forever, what do you live for?

FORMAL SUITS ARE STILL REACHABLE, SO DON’T SWEAT

So, I have a friend back in high school that I met yesterday and we sort of had coffee on a shop near my place. We talked about things in college (because he went to a different university and took up a different course) and other random things until he brought up the formal party he’s about to attend later that evening. He was having some problems finding suits that are not that so expensive because he’s currently cost-cutting because of the global recession (who’s not?). So I gave him some advice on how to achieve that formal look without spending a lot of money. There are sales and other shops that tailor or sell cheaper suits than other branded ones. It’s all about being meticulous and checking if the quality of the suit is fine despite it being cheap. After that, he excused himself early because he still needs to look for a suit, so I ended up back at my place to do something useful.

I watched the Simpsons on cable while eating the pizza I bought on my way home, I didn’t notice I fell asleep until my phone woke me up cause it was ringing, my brother had been calling for the past 15 minutes and I was totally unaware. He was pissed and asked if I was at home because he needs to borrow my laptop (the idiot). He came over after an hour and we watched 2012 (can’t believe I haven’t seen it on the cinemas, too busy) and then went out to eat. Nothing much happened so yeah, I’ll stop here. Until the next post then, see ya’ll when I see you. ;)
